A substantial George V sterling silver presentation box of heavy-gauge construction, hallmarked Birmingham, c. 1910– 1920. Of elegant square form with a hinged lid, the cover is centred with an engraved heraldic crest featuring a crown over a landscape. The box possesses a satisfying weight and a deep, historic patina. Origin: Birmingham, UK. Date: Early 20th Century. Weight: 306g. Dimensions: 8.5cm x 8.5cm x 5cm. Condition: Good antique condition; the heraldic engraving and hallmarks show softening and wear consistent with age and frequent polishing; hinge remains strong and the lid closes flush. Auctioneer's Note: The "heavy-gauge" nature of this box setsit apart from more common, thinner-walled cigarette boxes.
